Scheduled Safaris
Families with children 12 years of age and older can take part in any of our scheduled safaris. Choose from our selection of safari packages there is something for everyone!
Private Vehicle & Guide Ideal For Families!
Game Trails now offer the option of a private vehicle and guide on all
scheduled safaris. With a private vehicle and guide, guests can enjoy
added exclusivity and personal attention, as well as flexibility on
game drives. This great new development allows individuals a more intimate
safari experience without having to pay the high costs of an exclusive,
tailor-made safari. This option is available for US$500.00 for vehicle
and guide per day (vehicle seats 1– 6 guests) over and above the
cost of the safari. Exclusivity you can afford!
Private Family Safaris
Recognizing the unique needs of families with younger children, Game Trails has designed a safari concept to accommodate the whole family. We have facilities and activities tailored towards children and their parents ensuring a good time is had by everyone!
On our private family safaris, guests can enjoy the benefits of total exclusivity and flexibility with specific reference to wake up times, game drives and meals.
Kids Menu
We know that young children don't like fancy food. They enjoy food that is easy to recognize and simply prepared. We have kids gastronomic interests at heart when planning our menus on a private family safari.
Breakfasts
Fresh fruit, cereals (Fruit Loops, Rice Crispies, Choco Pops), yoghurt, rusks, toast and a selection of spreads (peanut butter, jam, syrup, honey, marmite).
Lunches
Pizzas, hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken pieces, toasted sandwiches, savoury pancakes, fresh bread with cheese, cold meats etc.
Dinners
Main Meal: pasta (spaghetti bolognaise, macaroni & cheese) , braai/BBQ, chicken casserole, beef potjie, pot roast chicken etc.
Activities On Safari
With the knowledge that young children have a short attention span and often get bored on traditional game drives, we have developed a special program filled with fun and informative activities aimed at keeping young explorers stimulated and inspired at all times.
Children's activities:
• Foraging trips to collect seed pods, leaves feathers and bugs to be examined and identified
• Making pictures and cards from natural materials found nearby
• Learning to identify animal footprints and how to track animals
• Roasting marshmallows over the camp fire
• Making casts of animal footprints in the sand with plaster of Paris
• Baking "The Big Five" cookies for afternoon tea
• Playing animal charades and much more!
We also know how much parents appreciate time on their own and encourage them to take a break between game drives while we entertain the children.
Family Tent
Taking the concept one step further, we have designed a family safari tent, ensuring the children's safety and their parents peace of mind. A family tent is a two bedroom unit with an adjoining bathroom and lockable exit/entrance.
Family Safari Guides
Our guides are experts in their field and are experienced at managing family groups. Years of experience in the bush combined with their exceptional characters enable them to lead families and children on a safe, fun filled and informative adventure.
To exclusively book a scheduled departure, guests are required to pay for a minimum of 8 (full camp). Advanced booking is essential.
